Aroma is an odd blend of Soho chic and corporate drone. The decor is somewhat kitschy - imagine an upscale diner mixed with the interior of a spaceship - and you're close to capturing the vibe of the place. There's plenty of comfortable seating, a large selection of seats overlooking Houston Street to do some people-watching and free wi-fi so there are worse deals in the city. As a double plus, Aroma has one of the best hot chocolates I've ever found in the city (really rich without being too sweet and gooey with chocolate at the bottom of the cup), good salads and good-for-you sandwiches. The cons: really ditzy staff (expect to repeat orders often), high prices (it's cheaper to take your order to go) and good coffee.

I love Aroma Espresso Bar, and would probably visit on a daily basis if I worked in that area. I think it's necessary to know the menu before you order, so that you know what you're getting. Amazing sandwiches, excellent coffee (Aroma Cafe recommended), this is always a favorite!
