Think Coffee

I was just there today for the first time... Stumbled across it accidentally actually.. while on my way to a coffeeshop in the east village. I really liked the space... It's incredibly spacious as far as coffeeshops go... It was a thursday night at around 7 and although it was very busy, it wasn't extremely difficult to find a seat. I thought they had a pretty good presence of outlets for laptops.. I had mine with me and had no trouble finding an outlet.
Food is a little pricey and the "iced tea" i ordered i'm pretty sure was just water. But seeing as this was my first visit, i'll give them the benefit of the doubt... Honestly, i just ran next door to the gristedes and got a diet coke and a lunchables.. haha.
Thursday night is apparantly "live music" night... annoying college hippy kids with guitars who couldn't sing.
The music I think could be lowered a bit, it was a tad loud for a coffeeshop that boasts free wifi for studying, writing and such... plus when the kids starting singing and playing music it wasn't quiet at all.. that's when i left actually.

Overall... A good place.

Cons: A tad loud - food a tad pricey -

Pros: Free wifi - Large space - no problem finding a space (could be a different situation on a weekend night!) - lots of outlets for laptops

Their green iced tea sucks. It tastes like it was strained through a dirty gym sock.

This place is always PACKED and the wireless isn't that reliable.

scrabble! scrabble! scrabble! this is all i have to say, and someone else already said it for me.

(plus, i won the last time i was there, which makes me like it more.)

Where to begin...? Where...?

There are so many noteworthy things to say about Think Coffee, but the most important thing to be noted is that they've got Scrabble Boards! When I first came here and saw the giant scrabble boards, I was immediately smitten. SMITTEN.

See, the problem with most coffee shops is that they're either too coffee shop-like (they try to jazz up the place with cute furniture and artsy paintings...and they want to make you think that you're in Paris or something, but...you're NOT! and it's stupid and frustrating when they speak to you in fake French accents, wearing berets, making a mockery really of the whole coffeeshop experience) or they're too messy (dirty floors, ugly cups, etc.). But Think is what a real coffeeshop should be- spacey, dimly lit (but not too much), comfortable, brownish.

You could stay here for hours.

My new favorite coffee shop, and I don't even drink coffee (they have a nice loose tea selection). One of the great spaces to hang out and study in, but there's also plenty of folks chit-chatting and an eclectic mix constantly streaming forth from the iPod (as well as live music Thurs eves), so don't go seeking total quiet. The food is good, but not great, but the prices are very reasonable so if you need a quick snack with your beverage it ain't bad. They also are going to open a cool soda-fountain area with floats and egg creams and all that stuff, which will be cool. If you ask, even now, you can get your pie ala mode, though. Open until midnight every night.
