There are only 3 outlets in the place... very tedious if you bring your laptop.

The iced cappuccino was very good. I've read rave reviews of this place on other websites. I'm not sure what all of the hype is about. The seating is kind of cramped with metal type garden chairs all around. We sat in the back on the red sofa, that was nice.

The only source of natural light comes from a sky light.

Grounded is by far the coolest most unpretentious cafe I have found yet in the city and honestly the best latte in all of New York. I stumbled upon this side street cafe - strange because I live only 5 blocks away. The place was packed, which was a bit annoying at first, but a table opened up as soon as my drink was ready. The girl who served me was cute & polite. The music was mellow and the natural light that pours in the place was great. A cool place!

I think that everyone hanging out at Grounded might be a freelance writer. I'm not sure how the owners of this place make any money - every table seems to be occupied by one person, their laptop, and one empty cup of coffee or tea or some other hot beverage. Who can blame us for wanting to hang out here? Light from a large skylight, mellow music, indie coffee vibe and snacks. One warning - if you like soft cookies, go for the oatmeal, but stay away from the lemon poppyseed. It was prohibitively crunchy the day I had it, and the staff confirmed that it's usually like that. I guess I needed another coffee for dunking purposes.
