A down-to-earth neighborhood spot with comfortable couches and an extensive selection of tea. If you don't have a laptop, you can use one of the PCs that line the wall.
Freeze Peach is quite possibly the best coffeehouse in Astoria. It's a cool, intimate space, with a decidedly laid-back character - comfortable chairs abound. Unlike lots of other establishments, Freeze Peach places an emphasis on its tea, not on its coffee. So, while the coffee is still great, the tea is probably some of the best you will find in the five boroughs. It's reasonably priced (maybe even underpriced), so you will not pay $5 for a small cup of burned, lukewarm coffee.
Freeze Peach also sponsors/hosts a lot of community groups in Astoria, and as a result is pretty much beloved by the neighboring community. Want further proof? There happens to be a non-independent coffeehouse (starts with the letter "S" and has to do with a character from Moby Dick) right around the block, and yet Freeze Peach seems to be doing just fine. So, the next time you find yourself in Astoria, consider visiting Freeze Peach. You won't regret it.
